The Google Trips app becoming a better companion for travelers. The app gives an option to save maps for offline viewing. That is great when mobile signal is weak or unavailable.
Plan Your Activities
After deciding your destination, you can list out major activities you want to enjoy. Search the Google or use TripAdvisor and list out major activities you want to enjoy. Then log in to your google account and open the Google Map. Using the star, save all your location in the list including the locations that are not yet listed on the Google map.
This is very useful when your activities are densely spread in a small area, because it is possible miss out some locations. For example, in the above image, I have marked all the location in the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa in North Central Province, Sri Lanka.
View your saved location in the App
When you are done with saving the location, instal Google Trips app to your smart phone. Search your destination in the search box and use create trip option to create your trip to the location. The you will be given a option to save the area for offline viewing.
Tap on the selected destination, then select the “Saved Places” option in the next screen. Then on the following screen, tap on the map icon located at the top right corner of the screen next to the menu icon. Then in the next screen you can see all the star marked location you saved previously.
Now you can use this app when you arrived at your destination and complete all the saved locations one by one.
